New Referee Training

Your young son and daughter decided last year to follow your advice and play soccer. The year started very well, but as it wore on, you determined that the referees should be doing a better job. Most of them were doing fine, but perhaps the thought crossed your mind that you could do a better job. And did you wonder how you might go about this for the coming season? Upcoming Referee Certification Clinics

Two (2) certification clinics for new referees that have been scheduled for August 2010, as follows:

I would highly recommend taking the longer Grade 8 clinic, as it goes into more of what you would see in a match on a daily basis. Please tell anyone you know that is interested in becoming a ref about these clinics. And if these dates don't work, www.wasrc.org/clinics shows all licensing clinics coming up around the state. There are some upfront costs, but you will be able to quickly get onto games in the spring season.

Attitudes Are Contagious (Video)

Mass Youth Soccer has developed and produced an outstanding video focusing on the issues of sideline behavior of adults, and specifically on how that behavior is affecting the retention of qualified referees. While many have talked about the issue of adult sideline behavior, Mass Youth is the only organization to turn the talk into a valuable tool that teams, towns, clubs and leagues can put into immediate use to help curb the unwanted noise along the sidelines.
